When performed with the proper technique, waxing removes hair directly from the root. This process gently weakens the follicle over time, leading to several long-term benefits:
Hair regrowth returns thinner, softer, and more sparse.
Your skin stays silky smooth for weeks at a time rather than just a few days.
Regrowth is tapered and soft, eliminating the itchy, prickly stubble caused by shaving.
The risk of painful ingrown hairs and "strawberry skin" is significantly reduced.
The process provides a deep exfoliation, leaving the skin brighter and more even-toned.
-
For the best results, hair should be at least the length of a grain of rice (about 1/4 inch) for all areas.
This usually requires about 3 weeks of growth if you have been shaving; for facial hair, it usually takes 2 weeks.
Avoid shaving, plucking, or threading between appointments to ensure the wax can properly grip every hair for a smooth finish.
Please do not trim your hair before your appointment. If the hair is longer, leave it! No need to trim.
-
Hair should be the length of a grain of rice (about 3–4 weeks of growth).
Do not trim; it is always better for the hair to be too long than too short.
Wear loose, breathable clothing to avoid post-wax irritation.
Skip the gym, heavy sweating, and intimate activity for 24 hours.
Gently exfoliate 24–48 hours before your visit, but skip lotions or oils on the day of.
-
Stop using retinol, AHAs, BHAs, or prescription acne creams 5–7 days before your appointment.
Avoid any professional chemical peels or microdermabrasion for at least two weeks prior.
Skip the tanning bed and direct sun exposure for 48 hours before your visit.
Come to your appointment with a clean, makeup-free face if possible.
Do not pluck or thread between visits; let the hair reach at least 1/4 inch for the best result.
-
I’ll be honest: there is a quick sting since we’re pulling a follicle through a smaller pore. However, I’ll keep you distracted and as comfortable as possible
The first session is the most sensitive; it gets much easier with every visit.
The discomfort is momentary and fades in seconds.
Staying on a 4-week schedule ensures thinner hair and a better experience.
An over-the-counter pain reliever 30 minutes prior can help.
-
A 4-week schedule is ideal to catch hair in the Anagen phase. Waxing during this phase ensures the hair is attached to the root, where waxing can weaken the follicle, leading to thinner and finer regrowth.
Consistent monthly waxing trains your hair to grow at the same rate, eventually reaching the same “hair cycle” for a smoother result.
Keep in mind everyone is different, and we will recommend a personalized booking schedule at your first visit.
-
We cannot wax skin that is currently sunburnt, windburned, or has any open wounds, rashes, or active skin infections. Wait until the skin is fully healed and no longer peeling or tender before booking your appointment.
Avoid waxing if you have had a chemical peel or intensive facial treatment within the last two weeks.
You must be off Accutane for at least 6 months, and you must stop using prescriptions like Retin-A or Differin 7 days before your visit.
Taking certain antibiotics or active acids (AHA/BHA) can also cause skin lifting; always disclose new medications to your waxer before your service.
-
Avoid the gym, heavy sweating, and intimate activity for 24 hours.
Skip hot tubs, saunas, and swimming pools for 48 hours to keep follicles clear of bacteria.
Wear loose, breathable clothing and avoid tight fabrics that cause friction.
Apply Bushbalm Nude Oil daily starting immediately to keep skin and hair soft.
Wait 48 hours before applying Bushbalm Roller Rescue to any bumps or redness.
Begin physical exfoliation after 48 hours, using a scrub 2–3 times a week.
-
Avoid touching the freshly waxed area and skip makeup for at least 24 hours.
Do not use active skincare (Retinol, Vitamin C, or Acids) for at least 72 hours.
Skip hot showers, saunas, and direct sun exposure for 48 hours.
Your wax expert will recommend professional skincare products during your visit that are appropriate for your specific skin type and post-wax needs.
If you have any concerns regarding skincare for your post-wax skin, please contact us directly for expert guidance.
-
Yes! Waxing is perfectly safe during pregnancy, and many clients continue their routine right up until their due date.
Keep in mind that hormonal changes can make your skin more sensitive and blood flow more active, so the wax may feel a bit more intense than usual.
We will take extra care with positioning and comfort.
Always consult with your doctor if you have specific concerns or a high-risk pregnancy.
-
Absolutely! You can still get waxed during your cycle, though there are a few things to keep in mind:
You must wear a clean tampon or menstrual cup during your service.
Your skin may be more sensitive, so the wax might feel a bit more intense. Taking an over-the-counter pain reliever 30 minutes before can help with sensitivity.
Simply let your waxer know when you arrive so we can ensure your comfort.
-
Yes, you can still get waxed if you have a hemorrhoid. We understand this is a very common occurrence and there is no need to feel ashamed or embarrassed!
We will avoid waxing directly over the affected area to prevent further irritation or discomfort.
If the area is currently bleeding, or particularly painful, you may consider waiting until it has healed before booking your appointment.
-
We recommend scheduling your wax 3-4 days before a big event to give your skin plenty of time to rest and for any redness to fully subside.
If you are a first-time waxer preparing for a special event (like a wedding or a long vacation), we recommend coming in for 2-3 sessions beforehand.
Starting a routine early ensures your skin is adjusted, your hair is on the right growth cycle, and you get the smoothest, longest-lasting results for your big event.
Always avoid direct sun exposure, tanning beds, and spray tans for at least 48 hours after your appointment.
-
We require at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule your appointment.
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged 50% of the service cost.
Because many of our specialized services are booked in efficient 15-minute increments, we offer a 6-minute grace period for late arrivals.
If you are not in the studio within those 6 minutes, we may have to consider you a "no-show" to ensure we can provide the full, high-quality service for all of our guests.
No-shows will be charged 100% of the booked service(s) and will be unable to book future appointments until all fees are settled.
We value your time and appreciate your respect for our experts' schedules so we can provide the best experience for every client.
